I'm heading back to Colorado for a visit in about two weeks, and I haven't told my parents yet. I'm not sure who I want to stay with. One of my parents does not have cable and is still using AOL dial-up, but the other one has two large, destructive, non-housebroken dogs who ate my cell phone charger and my GameBoy Color in one night.
I have to go down because of Gabe's thing, which is a secret, and also because I still have furniture that needs to be moved. My bed and couch were both total crap, hand-me-down things that I don't care if I ever see again, so I don't have to move those, and my friend who moved into my apartment is going to buy my awesome roll-top desk. But I still have all of my kitchen things, at least five tables, a few TVs and stands, one polka-dot chair, and piles of unused wedding presents that I haven't even taken out of their boxes, even though I got married sixteen months ago. Thanks for that crystal candy dish, Gabe's grandma, but it just looks like a giant ashtray.
In fact, the only wedding present we even use is
this awesome blue-striped duvet cover. We actually returned a cookware set in order to get it because we had already received the cookware that we registered for, and we didn't need two sets in my 20 square feet of kitchen. Anyway, I love this duvet. Plus, it's covering up this very non-adult blanket that I've had since I was a kid (first person to guess what kind of blanket it is wins). And I guess I should say that the it's the only present that
I, not we, use, since Gabe and I used to get into very loud 2 am arguments over who was hogging the blankets, so we just use separate blankets. See, 16 months and I already learned to compromise!
We're getting a new bed in a few weeks, and I'm pretty excited about it. Gabe's parents are getting a king-sized bed to replace their current queen, so Gabe and I have jumped on the opportunity to not sleep on a futon anymore. We're also switching to the other, superior bedroom. And after I peel his sister's anime off the wall, I'm repaining. The walls are currently light purple, and white paint isn't going to cover it up unless I paint three coats. I'm thinking of doing the top half kind of a sage green, the bottom half tan, and a pure white chair rail and trim. But I'm not sure if it will look like a Sims bedroom.
Not that it matters. What do I think this is, the Better Homes and Garden's blog?
