The Things

On Tuesday, my niece turned a year old. Now, there are many more milestones ahead of her, much more important things like being able to buy beer and fixing the economy, but for now, she'll have to settle for turning one I GUESS.

I spent the afternoon with her last Friday, and even though it had been less than two months since I last saw her, she seemed like a totally different baby. I even got up the nerve to take her to Target. I've never been allowed in public with a baby before, although I've seen it done. I realized when I strapped her into the cart that I hadn't worn my wedding ring, and I pulled my hair in my face, afraid I might run into somebody I knew while looking like an unwed mother. Aubrey takes after my brother more than her mother, and since my brother and I look like twins, I was scared that the bitch from my 11th grade English class might see me and talk shit about me on Myspace.

In other news, I had a bit of a typesetting embarrassment this past weekend, which wasn't very well documented on Twitter, but trust me, it was epic. I learned to type in 4th grade, and my teacher taught us that you are supposed to use two spaces at the end of the sentence. I've never thought much about it; it seems like it makes sense, right? But I'm wrong. I sent an email to my high school English teacher, and she said the same thing as @VAsmacky. She also kind of make fun of me about it, but come on, she uses hotmail and is on dial-up, what does she know? Well, she knows everything, and she was the reason I want to be a high school teacher to begin with. So, yeah, I've been incorrectly spacing for fourteen years, and I've never had a single teacher correct me on any essays, so maybe it's not the worst thing ever.

Gabe and I are spending until June 8th in Colorado because of two things, one being because my friend, Kristin, is getting married on the 7th, and I was asked to be a bridesmaid. I'm really excited for this wedding; they've been together since she was 17 (she's a day younger than me, so now 23), and man, I'm glad they're finally getting married. They've been through a lot, those two, and they are perfect for each other.
